Measuring pleated curtains
Tips to get started
- Use good equipment, a metal tape measure or a fixed ruler to measure in 1 x. Even better; use a digital measuring device.
- Measure several times, that way you can't make a mistake when reading the size.
- Keep in mind window sills, window handles and heating pipes. It is important that curtains hang freely.
- No floor in place yet? Then take into account the thickness of the new floor and possibly an underlay.
Preferably hang the rail on the ceiling or wall first before measuring. If the rail is on the wall, check which wall support you need in connection with radiators and heating pipes. For the width of the rail, keep 20 cm on both sides of the window. If the rail is to cover the entire width of the wall, measure the entire wall and subtract 2 cm.
How do you measure the width of the curtain?
This is the rail width +5 cm for a piece and for a pair it is the rail width +10 cm. This prevents the curtain from cracking because it always springs back slightly.
How do you measure the height of the curtain?
- Is no rail hanging yet? Then measure the distance from ceiling to floor in 3 places: left, centre and right. Subtract 1.5 cm from the smallest measurement.
- Hang the rail on the wall with a wall bracket: measure in 3 places: left, middle and right from the top of the rail to floor and subtract 1.5 cm from the smallest measurement.
- Are you hanging the rail first or do you already have an existing rail hanging? Then measure from top of rail to floor and subtract 1.5 cm.
Hanging your pleated curtains
- When hanging, it is possible to adjust the head slightly, so that the curtains hang at the ideal height.
- Use a steamer or possibly a steam iron to steam the last creases out of the curtains.
- Bind the pleats at the top and bottom of the curtains for a few days with a ribbon, for example, this will help the pleats form better in the curtain.
- Then let the curtains hang out for several days for the best results.
Measuring curtains on rings
Tips to get started
- Use good equipment, a metal tape measure or a fixed ruler to measure in 1 x. Even better; use a digital measuring device.
- Measure several times, that way you can't make a mistake when reading the size.
- Keep in mind window sills, window handles and heating pipes. It is important that curtains hang freely.
- No floor in place yet? Then take into account the thickness of the new floor and possibly an underlay.
Preferably hang the rod first before measuring. If the rod is suspended from the ceiling with ceiling supports, make sure there is space between ceiling and rod for a head (this is the fabric above the ring). For the width of the rod, keep 20 cm on both sides of the window. If the rod is to cover the entire width of the wall, measure the entire wall and subtract 2 cm.
For a piece of curtain, place a maximum of 2 supports and for a pair of curtains a maximum of 3 supports in connection with the sliding of the curtain.
How do you measure the width of the curtain?
The width of your rod is the width of your curtain.
How do you measure the height of the curtain?
Measure the height from top of rod to floor in 3 places, left, middle and right. Add 1 ½ cm to the smallest measurement.
Hanging your curtains on rings
- Use a steamer or steam iron to steam the last creases out of the curtain.
- Then let the curtains hang out for several days for the best results.
Measuring wave curtains
Tips to get started
- Use good equipment, a metal tape measure or a fixed ruler to measure in 1 x. Even better; use a digital measuring device.
- Measure several times, that way you can't make a mistake when reading the size.
- Keep in mind window sills, window handles and heating pipes. It is important that curtains hang freely.
- No floor in place yet? Then take into account the thickness of the new floor and possibly an underlay.
- Preferably choose room-high fabrics for a Happy Wave curtain. With a runway fabric, chances are that a seam will end up on a wave and with a room-high fabric, you won't have any seams.
Preferably hang the rail on the ceiling or wall before measuring. Bear in mind that you need 9 cm front and 9 cm back space from the centre of your rail.
If the rail will be on the wall, check which wall support you need in connection with radiators and heating pipes. Adjust the width of the rail to 20 cm on both sides of the window. If the rail is to cover the full width of the wall, measure the full width of the wall and subtract 2 cm.
How do you measure the width and height of the curtain?
- The width of the wave curtain is the rail width + 5cm.
- For the height of the wave curtain, measure the distance from bottom rail to floor in 3 places, left, middle and right, and subtract 1 cm from the smallest measurement.
Hanging your wave curtains
To fit a wave curtain to a rail, you get the following supplied:
- A wave cord
- Two end runners - These are already placed in the curtain. This is to make the first and last stroke of the wave curtain start and end nicely. You can also attach the tension rod to this.
- An end stop with screw - This is to fix the end runner at the end of the rail.
Hanging a wave curtain
- The amount of runners corresponds to the amount of hooks in the curtain. The end runners placed on both ends of the wave curtain count both for 1 runner.
- Slide all runners of the wave cord onto the rail. Make sure you place the end stop between the 1st and 2nd runner or between the last and second last runner, depending on which side you want to fix the curtain.
- Place the middle hook of the end runner on the first runner, then follow with the other hooks. Finally, place the second end runner in the last runner. Make sure the fabric is on the outside so that the end runners cannot be seen from the front.
- Shape the curtain fabric in such a way that the waves in the wave curtain are even.
- Finally, slide the wave curtain to the corner and fix the end stop with screw so that the wave curtain stays in place when opening and closing.
- Use a steamer or a steam iron to steam the last creases out of the curtain.
- Let the curtains hang out for several days for the best results.
Measuring Roman blinds
Tips to get started
- Use good equipment, a metal tape measure or a fixed ruler to measure in 1 x. Even better; use a digital measuring device.
- Measure several times, that way you cannot make a mistake when reading the size.
- Keep in mind window sills, window handles and heating pipes. It is important that curtains hang freely.
How do you measure a Roman blinds 'on the day'?
If the Roman blinds are to be 'on the day': measure the desired width and height.
How do you measure a Roman blinds 'in the day'?
If the Roman blinds are to be 'in the day': measure the width of the frame in 3 places, top, middle and bottom and subtract 1 cm from the narrowest width.
Measure the height of the window frame in 3 places, left, centre and right, and subtract 0.5 cm from the shortest height. You may also take the shortest height so that the folding curtain hangs on your windowsill.
Hanging your Roman blinds
- Place the outer clamps 10 cm from the side. The arrow on the folding curtain clamp points upwards, regardless of whether you place on ceiling or wall.
- Now, slightly tilted forward, place the recess at the bottom of the back of the folding curtain tray in the clamps and then press the entire tray backwards until all clamps are engaged.
- If possible, secure the chain to the wall using the chain guide provided.
- Use a steamer or possibly a steam iron to steam the last creases out of the folding curtain.
- Let the roman blinds hang out for several days for the best results.
