Here's why you would want to work with us
We have all the knowledge you need to make this wonderful profession your own. There is room for your own development through coaching and training. At A House of Happiness it is all about people, treating everyone with respect. With a focus on committed employees, sustainable employability, job satisfaction and development, we encourage each other to get the best out of ourselves and transfer our knowledge. Knowledge transfer, both inside and outside the company, is important. Employees receive training in product knowledge and in turn transfer that knowledge to retailers. With the aim: to serve the customer as well as possible. A House of Happiness gives every employee the opportunity to develop further. The wishes and needs in the area of training can be raised by employees with their managers; in any case, this is a fixed topic at the annual competence interview. The wishes and needs can also arise from within A House of Happiness, for example to raise a department to a higher level. By having employees attend training courses and/or further education, they gain new experiences and are more broadly deployable. Good for their own development, but also for the future of the organisation. The target for each year is that every employee attends at least 1 day of training per year.
The employee satisfaction survey is conducted once every two years. The aim is to gain insight into the well-being of employees, which is obtained through questions on various topics. There is also room for employees to give anonymous input on areas for improvement. Satisfied employees are committed to the organisation and are more productive. By what is completed, we can determine which topics are important for the next year. The current employee satisfaction survey figure is 7.3/10.
For your information, 95% of employees who completed the employee satisfaction survey support sustainable entrepreneurship. A good corporate culture is important. This allows everyone to perform well.
Every year we choose the Hero of the Year together, all employees may nominate 1 or more colleagues. That colleague receives a fully catered weekend away.
We are proud of our family culture. Everyone knows each other, interactions are informal, we walk into each other's offices instead of calling or sending an e-mail.
Every year, we celebrate a Midsummer festival together. For instance, we all went to see musical De Tocht together and celebrated the company's 100th anniversary in a big way. The staff association also organises a number of outings every year.
A House of Happiness stands for a pleasant working environment where we respect each other and take passionately pride in our work. We believe that mutual trust is the basis for a mature working relationship in which everyone takes responsibility. Our open corporate culture encourages employees to get the best out of themselves.
You can play table tennis in the canteen, but you can also go for a walk to the Leeuwarden forest with a large number of colleagues during the break. We encourage initiatives to exercise together. For instance, we regularly participated in the Millennium Run and swam to raise money for ALS research. On employees' initiative, we sponsor sports clubs; we always link our sponsorship to an employee. Every month we receive a healthy treat from the organisation, such as a fresh smoothie, a healthy sandwich or a piece of fruit.
Different backgrounds, opportunities for people distant from the labour market, different nationalities; that connects us as a company and employees.
In 2022, we were proud to receive the diversity award, presented by Leeuwarden municipality and the Tumba Foundation.
We collaborate with regional MBO and HBO courses on an internal 'living Lab'. We actively contribute to social causes, there is room for diversity and inclusiveness, as well as donations, sponsorships and volunteering. Our internal social enterprise; the L.A.P. atelier, which employs women in need of support, is an example of this.
